This year, the annual Father Ronald Lawler Lecture will be delivered by Father Robert Barron, who will speak on “The Priest as the Bearer of the Blessing.” The lecture bears the name of the late Father Ronald Lawler, OFM Cap., one of Pittsburgh’s most beloved priests and one of the St. Paul Center’s earliest and best supporters. Each year it serves as the keynote address of the conference.

As in years past, the conference will include a Mass on Saturday evening. The celebrant and homilist of this year’s Mass, will be the Most Reverend David Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh. Also as in years past, the conference will mark the release of the newest volume of the St. Paul Center’s journal of biblical theology, Letter and Spirit. This year’s volume is entitled “Liturgy and Empire,” and its articles take a fresh look at the relationship between the temporal world and the spiritual world in Scripture and Tradition. Every person who attends the conference will receive a copy of the journal free of charge.
