Father Joseph T. Lienhard, S.J., one of the world's most respected scholars of the Fathers of the Church, has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the St. Paul Center.
Father Lienhard is the author, editor, or translator of eleven books, and the author of more than eighty articles.
Among his books are The Bible, the Church, and Authority: The Canon of the Christian Bible in History and Theology (1995), and the volume Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy (2001) in the InterVarsity Press series, "Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture."
St. Paul Center founder, Dr. Scott Hahn, said the center was deeply honored by Father Lienhard's affiliation:
"Father Lienhard is a world renowned expert in the Church Fathers, with a special concentration on how the Bible was read in the early Church," Dr. Hahn said. "I was privileged to have him as a professor at Marquette University, and I know firsthand what an amazing teacher he is."
Also now available on our website are three important articles by Father Lienhard:
"The Books of Moses in the Christian Church: Early Christian Commentaries on the Pentateuch," "The Authority of Scripture," and "Origen and the Crisis of the Old Testament in the Early Church."
