Two important new scholarly articles have been published by associates of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology.

Center Founder Dr. Scott Hahn and Senior Fellow Dr. John Bergsma make a significant new contribution to the understanding of the Old Testament with an article published recently in the most prestigious academic publication in the field of biblical studies.

Their article, "What Laws Were 'Not Good'? A Canonical Approach to the Theological Problem of Ezekiel 20:25-26," appears in the most recent edition of the Journal of Biblical Literature, vol. 123, no. 2 (Summer 2004). "The identity of the 'not good' laws of Ezekiel 20:25 has vexed biblical scholarship for centuries," the two write, proposing that the text refers to the law code given in the Book of Deuteronomy.

In addition, Dr. Hahn proposes a new interpretation of a crucial passage in the Book of Hebrews that has long been a riddle to scholars.

"A Broken Covenant and the Curse-of-Death: A Study of Hebrews 9:15-22," appears in the most recent issue of Catholic Biblical Quarterly, vol. 66, no. 3 (July 2004): pp. 416-436. CBQ is the most prestigious Catholic biblical journal in the world. 

Dr. Hahn delivered the paper earlier this year to scholars and students at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, where one of the world's foremost Hebrews' scholars described the paper as "an important breakthrough."
