Dr. Matthew Bunson, Senior Fellow of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, is one of the United States' leading authorities on the papacy and the Church.
The author of more than 30 books, Dr. Bunson since 1997 has served as General Editor of Our Sunday Visitor's Catholic Almanac, the largest compendium of facts and statistics on the Catholic Church. His books include: The Encyclopedia of Catholic History; The Encyclopedia of Saints; Papal Wisdom; All Shall Be Well; Encyclopedia of the Roman Empire; and The Angelic Doctor: The Life and World of St. Thomas Aquinas.
His most recent book is We Have a Pope! Benedict XVI, the first Catholic biography of the Holy Father in the English language.
Dr. Bunson has also served as a consultant to MSNBC, NBC News, CBS Radio, and the BBC, as well as other media outlets. He was special consultant on Catholic affairs for USA Today during its coverage of the 2005 papal funeral and conclave.
He worked as editorial consultant to the 3-volume Encyclopedia of the Papacy (published in 2001), serves as a member of the committee for the cause for canonization of Servant of God Demetrius Gallitzin, Apostle of the Alleghenies, and is an advisor to the Nation Christ Child Society in its efforts to promote the canonization of Servant of God, Mary Virginia Merrick.
He earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation, and also holds a Master of Arts degree in Theology from St. Joseph's College.
Bunson lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
