Gayle Somers, Research Fellow of The St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, is an educator and developer of Bible studies and curricula.

She is the author of Genesis Part I: God and His Creation (Emmaus Road, 2004), Galatians: A New Kind of Freedom Defended (Basilica, 2001) and a contributor to The Woman’s Study Bible (Thomas Nelson, 1995).  Somers holds a B.A. from the University of New Orleans and a M.T.S. degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

An experienced leader of parish-based Bible studies, Somers has also created the parish workshop, “Catholics on the Emmaus Road:  Encountering Christ in Scripture,” aimed at enabling Catholics to acquire basic biblical literacy skills and daily devotion to Scripture within one year.

She is currently at work on the “Hearts Aflame Scripture Study,” a series of Bible studies for parish use. Her study of Genesis in this series will be published next year by Emmaus Road Publishers.

Somers lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband Gary and their three children. She and her family were received into the Catholic Church on Pentecost 1995.
