  • Proclaiming the Kingdom: The Gospel of Matthew

A Ten Lesson Audio Bible Study Course

The audio course “Proclaiming the Kingdom” systematically unpacks the riches of the Gospel of Matthew.  Sometimes called “the Gospel of the Kingdom” because of its central theme, Matthew was the most often quoted of the four gospels in the writings of the early Church Fathers.  These talks were originally delivered to an audience of priests and deacons on retreat at St. Vincent’s Archabbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.  They are both theologically rich and eminently practical.  To get the most out of these presentations by Dr. Scott Hahn, Dr. Brant Pitre, and Dr. John Bergsma, you should read the chapters of Matthew once through before listening to the lecture. For Dr. Pitre and Dr. Bergsma’s talks, you may want to print out the handouts and follow along (unless you’re driving of course).

You can listen online or download the talks to your computer or mp3 player.

  • Lessons from the Early Church

    Listening to the Fathers Today

Our individual identities are shaped by and linked to our parents and the stories of our families. As a Church, our identity is linked to and shaped by our fathers and mothers in the faith, the earliest Christians.  What do those early Christians have to say that is of revelance to the contemporary Church? How is our understanding of liturgy shaped by what Jesus’ followers in the first centuries believed and practiced? Have the changes in the eucharist brought us closer to the ancient church or separated us from our roots?

Did they lose all significance and meaning after the coming of Christ? Or, like the Old Covenant itself, were they fulfilled in the New?
